In this complicated, technological world we live in the ability to understand and execute multiple artistic tasks has become necessary for viable employment and artistic expressions. No longer is one artistic discipline enough. The public demands art that is complex and varied. Video is enhanced with sound and music; computer graphics needs a painterly and design based background; photography frequently relies on digital augmentation; theater needs advanced, computerized lighting to entertain audiences; the web demands competency in all of the afore mentioned areas.
   In response to society's demands for varying artistic productivity, Cypress College has devised a multimedia curriculum that allows for students to experience an integrated approach to courses. A student may participate in multiple areas without the difficulty of officially changing academic emphasis and benefit from a large collection of outstanding teachers in the multimedia field.
